Your Pet's "Doody" is Your Duty

The Prescott Valley Police Department receives numerous complaints from residents regarding negligent pet owners not cleaning up their dog’s fecal matter on local trails and walking paths, especially along the trail adjacent to Lakeshore Drive.  Town Code Section 6-03-010 subsection D requires that pet owners (or any person having custody of an animal) be responsible for that animal’s solid waste deposited on public property or any private property without the owner’s consent and states that it is unlawful for pet owners to refuse to clean up after their pets.  A person cited for violating this code can expect to pay up to $250.00.

Prescott Valley parks, trails, and walking paths are to be enjoyed by all our residents and visitors. Please be a good neighbor and clean up after your pet.

As the weather warms up, citizens should also be aware of the Town Code regarding private property. It is a violation of Town Code 10-01-100, Offensive Premises regarding private property that has become nauseous, foul, or offensive to the senses.

Prescott Valley Police Department can be contacted at (928) 772-9267 for non-emergencies, 911 for emergencies. Yavapai County Silent witness is 1-800-932-3232.
