Creative Writing–In -person program, April 6th, 2023 Pre-registration required
Join us this month to write poems. Poetry has been around for almost four thousand years. Like other forms of literature, poetry is written to share ideas, express emotions, and create imagery. Poets choose words for their meaning and acoustics, arranging them to create a tempo known as the meter. We will perform written exercises to write concrete, ekphrastic, haiku and epigram poetry. Join us on Thursdays, April 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, 2023, from 12-2 pm. We will develop and write poetry to express our ideas, describe the world's beauty, and as a form of entertainment.
Registration is for a 4-week class series.
Attendance is required for the first class. If you miss the first class, you will be removed from the class but are welcome to register for the next class series.

Prescott Valley Public Library will be hosting, Crochet One, Knit Too! in the 3rd floor Crystal Room. This is an informal group of folks who enjoy the art of crochet, knitting, and any other portable needle craft. If someone needs help reading a pattern or figuring out a new stitch, there is always someone who can lend a hand. Besides sharing knowledge and expertise, this group shares patterns as well. Friendly and helpful newcomers are always welcome!

Alzheimer's Association Support Group April 10th & 24th, 2023
Prescott Valley Public Library will be hosting Alzheimer’s Support Group – the second and fourth Mondays @ 10:00– 11:30 am in the Glassford Hill Meeting Room. Support Groups provide a forum to share feelings, concerns, information and learn new skills. All of our support groups are facilitated by trained individuals and meet at various location and times. Most groups are for family and friends supporting a loved one with dementia, but there are also groups designed specifically for individuals with early-stage dementia.
No registration required but space is limited.

Beginning Meditation and Mindfulness, In-person program, April 10th, 2023
Prescott Valley Public Library will be hosting, Beginning Meditation and Mindfulness. Meditation is a grounding practice which helps you to know yourself better, appreciate yourself and others more, and allows you to get a more relaxed and sound sleep. Science has proven that regular meditation can have powerful long-lasting effects. Through meditation you begin to notice your body and mind more easily and let go of daily stressors and challenges. Come to Beginning Meditation & Mindfulness meetings on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. Those at all levels of meditation experience, from none and beyond, are encouraged to participate in this free program. Chairs will be provided—please bring a cushion if needed.

Black Adam is a 2022 American superhero film based on the DC character of the same name. Produced by New Line Cinema, DC Films, Seven Bucks Productions, and Flynn Picture Co. and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is a spin-off to Shazam! (2019). The film was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. It stars Dwayne Johnson as Teth-Adam / Black Adam, an ancient superhuman who is released from his magic imprisonment by a group of archeologists to free the nation of Kahndaq from the crime syndicate Intergang, whose local leader plans to obtain an ancient relic called the Crown of Sabbac to take control of the nation.

Citizen Science Interactive Exhibition, April 27th, 2023, No registration required
Prescott Valley Public Library is hosting in person program, Citizen Science Exhibition on Thursday, April 27th, 2023, from 4:00-6:00 pm. Come visit the Prescott Valley Library to learn how you can make an impact in real scientific research! Your library is equipped with citizen science library kits, kits that contain tools to participate in projects that use your collected data to advance real research We will do some citizen science activities together and learn about why all this matters. Take this opportunity to try all the available citizen science kits and ask questions about being citizen scientist!
A SciStarter representative, Emma Giles, will present on what citizen science is and how you can get involved. Emma Giles is a Program Coordinator for SciStarter and a SciStarter Fellow in a Master of Science and Technology Policy at Arizona State University. With SciStarter, Emma helps develop and lead citizen science programs in libraries, community-based organizations, and educational institutions across the country. Emma looks forward to inviting more people into the citizen science community.
