What is Minecraft?
Minecraft is a “sandbox” style video game developed by Mojang Studios and owned by Microsoft. "Sandbox" means that the game is entirely open and players can choose to do anything with their time such as place blocks or go on adventures. This includes anything from crafting simple items to building structures like houses, castles, and cities, or even making complex mechanical-devices. Minecraft is used extensively in education and helps build future-ready skills like creativity, problem solving, systems thinking, and nurtures a passion for play.

Anyone who wants to play Minecraft must have a purchased copy of the Minecraft game and a Minecraft account. If you are playing on a console you will also need an account for that console (for example, Nintendo, Xbox, etc.)

Who else plays?
The purpose of the server is to provide a safe, moderated, private (as opposed to publicly accessible) environment for kids, families, and the PVPL community to connect to. They can play in multiple modes (creative, adventure, or survival) and there are a variety of minigames and modifications on the server to add extra layers of protection and increased enjoyment of the game.
How safe is Minecraft?
Minecraft can be played very safely, especially when adults communicate with their children about what they're doing online and are familiar with the games they play. Review all of the game's settings with your kid if they're playing multiplayer. For more detailed information we recommend adults read Common Sense Media's Ultimate Guide to Minecraft for parents.
