The Criminal Investigations Section (CIS) is led by a sergeant and has six detectives assigned.
Detectives are assigned a criminal specialty such as drug crimes, property crimes, fraud & financial crimes, violent crimes (homicides, physical and sexual assaults), and cyber- internet crimes.
CIS detectives are trained members of the Arizona Child Abduction Response Team (AzCART).
CIS maintains a liaison with the FBI and Homeland Security through its Terrorism Liaison Officers (TLO).
A drug crimes detective is attached to Partners Against Narcotic Trafficking (PANT) – a county wide drug task force providing undercover narcotic sting operations, interstate highway narcotic interdiction, and community outreach & education. Prescott Valley Police has provided staffing since PANT’s inception in 1988.
CIS works closely with the Yavapai County Attorney's Office, the Town of Prescott Valley Magistrate Court and with investigators from other jurisdictions.
